Had a busy day, hop on hop off bus, a Singapore sling in raffles, a ride on the flyer (just me - Robin chickened out) and a walk around the botanical gardens.

Two nights in Singapore before we fly home.

Fremantle

We visited the Fremantle jail and took a couple of their tours. The first (a general one) was very good, but the 2nd (about escapes) was led by a pretty useless guide that did not seem to know what he was doing.

Next it was off to the waterfront for ice cream!

Tuesday - Cottesloe Beach

Almost deserted beach white sand and warm sea.

Then on to Karrakatta Cemetery to find Robin's cousin Mavis' memorial (Mavis Hetty Hargreaves was The daughter of Robin's dads eldest sister).

Then back home for a dip in the pool.

(Thursday)

We had a lazy day today, out for lunch (banana milkshake and a slice of Bailey's cheesecake), thenback home so Robin could cook an indian ready for tomorrow.  Right now it's thundering, lightning and raining - which has put paid to the swim I was going to have and our planned sit on the beach to watch the sun set.  But I suppose it is getting us acclimatised for our return home next week😓 

Perth

Keith met us from the train.  We are spening our last few days in Australia with him, his wife - Kathy, and their daughter Amy.

We had a BBQ - this red back fell out of it.  I managed a quick photo before. It met its sad demise under Keith's shoe!

On Sunday we went for a drive and saw ............

............. more kangaroos!

And a visit to historic Jarrahdale.

On Monday we took a trip to Caversham Wildlife Centre - lots of kangaroos, koalas and Neil the Wombat.

And a farm demo.

We ended up with coffee - watching the beans being roasted as we slurped!

The Southern Pacific (Adelaide to Perth)

After a bumpy night we arrived at Cook - an almost deserted town in the middle of the Nullabor Plain.

We travelled on to Kalgoorlie and had a whistle-stop tour of the town, a gold mine visitor centre and the "super pit".  The tour was in the dark (a bit odd as we couldn't see much) and I forgot my camera, so will have to add photos when I can access Robins photos.

Back to Adelaide

After finding another lovely bakery for breakfast, we set off for a 4 hour drive into Adelaide to drop off our hire car.  We then caught a (very cheap) taxi to the station to catch the Indian Pacifuc train to Perth.

What a way to travel!  Lovely attendants, gorgeous food (though the menu didn't change - it was identical every night and the same one as on the Ghan) and complimentary drinks.  We are already planning our next journey.

Our drive to Adelaide (continued)

After finding a lovely bakery to pick up breakast (plus a cinnemon bun for lunch) we continued westbound along the coast.

Then along the Princes Highway to Robe for our next nights stay.  We liked Robe, Robin would have liked to stay longer.
